Born and raised in Montreal, Huguette began her career as a computer programmer before becoming a senior manager at Nortel. She later joined John Abbott College near Montreal, where she designed and managed a computer training program. During this time, Huguette also took drawing and pastel courses and studied art history.
In 1994, Huguette and her partner, Russ Collins, moved to the GaspeĢ Coast, where they founded Imagine- Ere, offering circus and computer camps for children, along with various adult training programs. In 2002, they relocated to BC to be closer to their two sons.
After studying oil painting in Vernon and Lake Country, Huguette joined the Tucson Art Academy Online, where she studied design and colour harmony under the mentorship of impressionist artists who continue to guide her work today.
